Dali earns the nickname of "Oriental Geneva" for its natural scenery, ancient culture of more than 4000 years and historical relics. Being the capital of the Nanzhao and Dali Kingdoms from the 8th to 13th centuries and a traditional commercial and cultural gateway between China and Southeast Asia. It is surrounded by picturesque mountains and lakes and made even more pleasant by unpolluted air.
